Welcome to Art Friends

At Art Friends, we offer a creative, fun and dynamic 12-week art course that provides loads of benefits for both beginners and those with painting experience. Our 12-week term allows you to explore your creativity through different modules, in a super friendly, supportive and inspiring environment, with a cup of tea and biscuit always at hand. Whether you're looking to learn from scratch or refresh your skills, this course is designed to help you grow as an artist, have fun and make friends along the way :)
  • Foundation: Reaquaint with art
    Whether a beginner or with previous art experience, it's always great to revisit different art mediums and explore new art techniques.
  • Experiment: New techniques
    Art Friends encourages experimentation, so have fun trying out palette knife, or impasto with acrylic paints.
  • Share your art with others
    You're in good company with Art Friends, so at the end of term we select the best 'wall worthy' art from the course, learn to frame and share with friends and family at an informal art show, over a cup of tea.

Meet Our Tutors

Our tutors are professional practising artists that have tutoring experience.
At Art Friends, our passionate, professional artist-tutors are also experienced educators dedicated to guiding your artistic journey. 
Skilled in composition, sketching, perspectives, and light-sources, they bring your creative vision to life through live demonstrations each week and personalised support for your specific needs. 
With constructive feedback, and warm smiles, our tutors foster a nurturing environment where art and friendship thrive.

Art Modules: 12-week foundation art course

Week 1 we look at pencil work and composition and light source.
Pencil work and colour theory - week 1 & 2
Week 2 we explore colour theory and creating hues from primary colours.
Oil pastels - week 3 & 4
Weeks 3 and 4 take us into the world of oil pastels, application and technique.
Week 5, 6 and 7 we experiment with watercolours. Washes and details.
Watercolour - week 5, 6, 7
Week 5, 6 and 7 we experiment with watercolours. We explore portraiture, nature and landscapes.
Acrylic - week 8, 9 & 10
Watercolour - week 5, 6, 7
Week 8, 9 and 10 we enter the world of acrylics. How to apply 'thick on thin' and explore palette knife and brush.
Framing - week 11
End of term show - week 12
Week 11 we are getting ready for our end of term art show. Select your favourite art pieces from the term, and explore framing colours to compliment.
Week 12 is exciting as our work is on the wall, ready for friends and family to view. Discuss your work and course with your peers.

*We have a limit for 20 spaces. Our art course is designed for students to enrol for the full duration. Unfortunately we cannot take students for separate modules, as we need to ensure that our class capacity stays consistent, to ensure the best art tutorship is given 1-on-1.

Frequently asked questions

Does Art Friends provide all art materials?
Yes. We provide all art materials (brushes, paper and paints etc) for each class :) However if you have your own art materials you'd prefer to use, you are more than welcome.
Yes. We love welcoming new members to Art Friends! If you're unsure it's right for you, try a sample class. Just contact us first to confirm availability so we can be sure to have room for you :)
Yes. The classes run for 3 hours approx, and creating lovely artworks can be thirsty work, so we're happy to provide refreshments brought to your table during the class.
Yes. We make sure that all our locations have free parking facililies either on site, or street parking nearby, to ensure it's as easy as possible.
Yes. Our classes have a max capacity of 20, so same-day enrolment isn't possible to ensure students receive 1-on-1 tutorship.
Yes. We love welcoming back our returning students! Each term brings a fresh curriculum, great for both artistic growth and friendships.
Can I join for a class before enrolling?
